Xylem

For this Namibian surfboard maker, I was tasked with not only creating a visual identity but also developing the brand name itself. After thorough brainstorming, we settled on "Xylem," a term inspired by the hard, water-transporting tissue found in wood, mirroring the essence of the handcrafted boards. The logo design incorporates undulating ripples reminiscent of wood grains, desert dunes, and ocean waves. I then developed a full brand identity, including typography use, colour palette, and a grid system, and applied this system to swing tags, the website and a printed surfboard catalogue.
